EXTENDED DAY PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

GDMS is pleased to offer on-site before and after school care.  Our extended day programming is a fun extension of the school day for students who need to arrive early or stay later. 

•  Before Care I is available from 6:30 AM – 7:30 AM (All students)
•  Before Care II is available from 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM (All students)
•  After Care I is available from 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM (3- and 4-year-old students)
•  After Care II is available from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM (All students)


In addition to our before and after care offerings, GDMS also provides students the opportunity to participate in fee-based school clubs that meet one day per week.  Our 2014-2015 club offerings include cooking, yoga, jump bunch, arts and crafts, and dance.



 


  Cooking Club


                      

Day and Time: Mondays, 4:00 – 5:00 PM

Club Leader: Ms. Erma

Open to students ages 4 and up 

 

Overview:

Cooking helps kids learn and grow up in the kitchen. The Kids Cooking Club will teach children how to prepare breakfast foods, healthy snacks, main dishes, and desserts. In the club, children will learn about kitchen safety, spreading, pouring, dinner etiquette and manners, peeling, nutrition and healthy eating, adding ingredients, and helping in the kitchen. Older kids will learn how to read recipes, read labels, use a microwave, write out a shopping list, and plan a menu.

Yoga Club

                           



Day and Time: Tuesdays, 4:00 – 4:45 PM
Club Leader: Ms. Sarwat 
Open to students ages 5 and up

Overview:

Children’s yoga is a natural and health way to exercise, relax, focus, and strengthen their mind/ body/ spirit connection.  Yoga games, breathing meditations, and deep relaxations are wonderful self-help therapies for hyperactivity and have helped with ADD/ ADHD, Autism, and children’s health and well-being. Yoga helps children develop better body awareness, self-control, flexibility, and coordination. They can carry these skills beyond the class and into their daily routines.

Jump Bunch Club

                   



Day and Time: Wednesdays, 4:00 – 5:00 PM

Club Leader: Coach James
Open to all students
 

Overview:

Participants will learn and practice important elements of beloved sports like football and soccer, and they will tackle some new and challenging sports like relays and broom ball.  The focus will be on working together as a team and graceful competition—win or lose.

 Arts and Crafts Club

                   

Day and Time: Thursdays, 4:00 – 5:00 PM
Club Leader: Ms. Lenora
Open to students ages 4 and up



Overview:

Art is visual language, which relies on the use of emotion,
imagination, and intuition.  The GDMS Arts and Crafts Club will introduce students in sequence or as they show interest in a variety of arts and crafts projects, including drawing, painting, weaving, beading, collage making, sculpture, and much more.

Dance Club

Open to students ages 4 and up


Overview:

Edurama dance participants will learn and practice ballet and jazz under the leadership of a highly skilled dance instructor. The focus will be on preparing the students to take part in Edurama's 11th Annual dance recital on May 30, 2015.
