The primary program is the first level of the Montessori program, which is a multi-age, three year cycle, with students ages
Children experience an academically enriched environment within a well-ordered social community. The presence of these two factors is based on the principle that children absorb their environment, language, and culture in a way that is unique to this age. Therefore, the classrooms in the Primary program are designed to include a variety of both academic and cultural materials.
Children also experience the classroom as a place where they can develop socially. They are free to move about the classroom and relate to other children in conversation and in their play. The teachers show genuine respect to each child. The children, in turn, model their behavior on their social interactions.
A special characteristic of the Primary program is that the classroom encompasses the areas of learning and socializing which are designed to foster independence, concentration, self-motivation, and love of learning. Children learn reading writing, language, mathematics, geography, science, history, music, and physical education using many manipulative materials in the classroom and through the guidance of the teacher.
Another feature of the Primary classroom is that the materials are accessible to the children. They are free to choose activities appropriately to their level and progress, and to develop at their own pace.
The Primary program is available five days a week from
In the Elementary program, students learn and develop fundamental skills that play an important role throughout their academic career. Their curriculum is outlined in such as way that a child’s progress is personalized to his/her pace. It challenges the most able students and offers the flexibility necessary to support the different learning styles of each child. This is evident when you enter the classrooms. At any time of the day, you may observe the children building time lines, recording science experiments, writing book reports and compositions, administering spelling tests to each other, or solving mathematical problems.
Language Arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and history are the core of the academic program. Language Arts include reading, phonics, spelling vocabulary, grammar, and writing. The reading exercises incorporate a variety of topics. Reading is an integral part of all areas of the curriculum.
The mathematics program provides the groundwork for a firm understanding of basic mathematics concepts. The students are actively involved in problem solving and gain a concrete understanding of mathematical principles though the use of manipulative materials.
Elementary students are introduced to the fundamentals of algebra, geometry, logic, and statistics, along with the principles of arithmetic. Here the child begins to move from concrete to abstract in a meaningful way.
In addition to an enriched academic program, the student experiences a well-defined social system operating within the classroom. The child at this age identifies with his/her peers in a new way. The classroom is a miniature society where children work and learn together in harmony, while retaining their individuality. With the teacher’s support and direction, the children strive to become responsible for their own behavior and to help the community by observing rules necessary for peaceful living.
History, Geography, and International Culture come alive in the Montessori Elementary classroom through plays, music, food, and individual research.
Art, music, and physical education are all integrated in the curriculum to develop the whole child, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

The Montessori Prep Class is designed for children 24-36 months. The curriculum is composed of hands-on manipulation materials designed to develop concentration, order, independence, and coordination. Children in the Montessori Prep Class learn from teachers educated or credentialed in early childhood education and who receive ongoing in-service training in the Montessori curriculum.
Children who are not fully potty trained are accepted into the program. There is a maximum of 12 children with 2 trained teachers in each class. The Montessori Prep Program operates between 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM.
